๐น Today 11/20, the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor the memory of lives lost in acts of anti-trans violence. At least 22 (in the US) & 311 (around the world) of our transgender and non-binary siblings have been reported killed in this year alone. ๐น
This number does not include those weโve lost by suicide and in prisons and detention. Those misgendered in death.
Those we will never know.
This is an epidemic, in fact a pandemic, and it's up to each of us to address gender-based violence so that all trans people can live phenomenally and free. We must give roses to our trans and non-binary siblings, particularly Black trans women, while they are ALIVE and with us and not only after they are gone. // Today Iโm proud to wear my @phenomenal tee which benefits @tgijustice, which works inside and outside of prisons to create a united family in the struggle for survival and freedom. // To my trans and non-binary siblings today: I see you and I am with you. xx AC // #TDOR #transdayofremembrance
